The Cessna Turbo Skyhawk JT-A offers better take-off performance, especially in hot and high conditions

Textron Aviation has received certification from both the FAA and the EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) for its Cessna Turbo Skyhawk JT-A. The JT-A, which comes equipped with the next generation avionics of Garmin G1000 NXi and a Continental CD-155 engine, exceeding the initial performance objectives of Textron Aviation.

This includes a range of 963 nautical miles (an increase of 78 nm compared to the original estimated figures), a better takeoff distance of 1,320 feet and a maximum ascent speed of 767 feet per minute. According to company officials, the Turbo Skyhawk JT-A is a “factory option that includes an integrated engine, propeller and cabin upgrade package that drives Skyhawk’s standard performance.” Doug May, Vice President of Piston Aircraft of Textron Aviation noted that the Skyhawk platform represents the most successful single-engine airplane of all time and that the company is excited to further improve its capabilities with the technology of the Jet-A motorcycle group.

The Turbo Skyhawk JT-A allows operators to comply with changing environmental regulations around the world, providing solutions to increase the global reach of this platform that has already been proven. To date, the company says that more than 44,000 Skyhawks have been put into service. The 155 hp JT-A has direct fuel injection, a dual-channel FADEC powered by a single power lever, and burns Jet-A fuel. In addition to the increased range (a 50% bump over the standard Skyhawk range), the JT-A also offers a maximum cruising speed of 134 knots.
