Cessna Aircraft Company, located in Wichita, Kansas, United States, is a manufacturer of aircraft, ranging from small four-seater models to business jets.
In June 1911, a Rago, Kansas farmer named Clyde Cessna assembled his first aircraft, French Bleriot aircraft purchased from the Queens Airplane Company in the Bronx, New York, and powered it with one of his own water-cooled engines.
In February 1925, Cessna joined forces with Lloyd Stearman and Walter Beech to form the Travel Air Manufacturing Company, and it remained there until September 1927, when differences between Cessna, Stearman and Beech led Cessna leave Travel Air and join forces with Victor Roos to form the Cessna-Roos Aircraft Company, which became Cessna Aircraft Company in no more than two months, after the departure of Roos
Cessna was purchased by General Dynamics in 1985, then by Textron in 1992
